Cashing out by end of day. I'm looking for sentiment pushback. 25% odds we gap up past 12300/1280 next week, in which case I will give up a few percentage points in exchange for more certainty before getting back in.

CC - Many years ago I went to Seattle on a business trip. My girlfriend and I went on the Hoh River trail. I remember Forks and La Push. Neat. Nice Pictures
sold 1 of my 2 aapl jan 380 calls for 25.15 that will give me some to let the other one run or give me a cushion to get stopped out.
sold the 7 jan 124 calls at 4.83 which was the second part of my spy strangle, made a little over $700 on that, looks like a 9% return. I really expected this one to pay off sooner than it did. I do like stangles though because it gives me a position to work with and it lets me sleep at night. With the uncertainty in the market it give me a pretty good lotto ticket, as long as I'm not buying when volatility is real high.
I had 500 SSO with an average purchase price of $43.00, sold 200 today at $46.04 with a stop n the other 300 around 44.80. I may adjust the stop a bit but not by much.
That just leaves me with my trade of shame with unrealized losses that completely wipes out all my meager gains. CF, what is going on? I've been so wrong on this one that I think I may just have to close out all my positions and not look at it for a couple of months. Bad trade. Right now just thinking out loud, I'm tempted to sell all the calls that are over a dollar, sell half the shares and sell a covered call on the other half. I need to come up with a better plan.
That tree.... Well let's say it's between 8 and 10 feet thick at the butt and a year of growth is about 1/16 of an inch, maybe less. but since we can't be there to measure or count.....we'll guesstimate. So we use 1/2 the tree (a tree growth ring is around the whole tree) which is between 4 and 5 feet X 12" (48" - 60") X 16 = 768 to 960 years.
There is a tree cross section in town (Shelton) that they've counted the tree rings on and there are markers approximately where the Magna Carta was signed, Columbus landed in the new world, etc. If trees could talk....
Does everyone else see those speakers morphing into giant squid tentacles. Well I do and I don't like it. Whats going on? Too much sunshine daydream in the 70s?

Nice timing on the overall trade 2nd! We'll see how you exit timing turns out. I could see us getting a pullback next week - but actually, I could see anything happening next week depending on what the Europeans decide to do.
Are you always an all-in, all-out type trader? The thing I find hard about trading that way is if it did move up from here, you're forced to either wait and potentially miss a big move or chase which is never fun.

I'm always amazed at the trees every year when we go to Oregon. Wonder how old that tree on the beach is?
ReplyDeleteport - what state are you in? Tequila might be the plan... ;-)
ReplyDeletemy trading obviously shows i'm in a state of confusion first, denial second and sometimes both at once.

Good luck.
Why I think 2nd will have more opportunities:
