9/24/12 Play to win, cont'd

How many times have I posted the observation, 'I could have sat out the entire first x months of the year, and gone long only after [a major correction]?' Easier said than done, of course. But some version of that play has occurred almost every year. Did that opportunity come and go with the sell off in June, or might it arrive later in '12? I like the odds of a major correction yet to come.

  1. Pray SVNT pulls back on a dilution(or some other excuse) then buy with both hands. Perhaps we can buy TOF's shares back around the price he sold them.

    1. the next SVNT is YRCW. i'm fairly confident of this. as always the issue will be holding through shakeouts and hold through a big run.

  2. Why is it that when 2nd_ave suggests that I get the hell out of AUMN and I don't listen to him, a major sell-off in AUMN starts the very next day??? Next time he suggests this to me, I'll sell at least SOME shares, so as to be able to reload them at better prices...

    1. That's probably the all-clear signal to buy. Give it about a week.

    1. I nearly bought 2k shares at $5.05 today, but instead decided to keep my $4.80 bid since silver fell under $34.48

  6. SRS - Considering that tax assessments are now complete and the bills are in the mail safe and sound, real estate can now be allowed to resume it's downward trajectory?

  7. I have greatly decreased my margin buying power with my recent AUMN purchases, which brings me close to a margin call once again. In order to move myself away from the margin call a little, I decided to take profit on 5K (out of 15K) shares of PNPFF purchased at $0.86 this summer -- just sold 5K shares at $1.20.

  8. Also, just sold at $2.40 my last 5 contracts of MUX January 2014 $2.50 calls (the previous 5 contracts were sold at $2.70 a few days ago), which I purchased in mid-May at $1.40. Placed a buy limit order for 10 contracts of AUMN April $5 calls at $1.05.

  9. AUMN has returned to its 50DMA -- technically, this is a good place to buy...

    1. What goes down must come out, perhaps RIMM isn't down and out but we won't know the answer for awhile.

  12. PAL - I'm thinking about buying this one again, they're done with their cash raise, should have enough cash to complete the mine construction, and best I can tell have gotten over their urge to become famous gold miners (Well, they did succeed at becoming famous, for buying a clapped-out gold mine).

Perhaps best of all, they don't have any property in Argentina or Africa....(yet, gulp!)
