  2. FSYS - Looks like earnings response was a fake-out, I've noticed this for a few others, as well.

  4. I'm guessing no one looked into the financing deal NSPH put together. Illini?

  5. PMT - Quite an appetite for dividend income.

  6. ING - This level should hold, else we get to buy at a super discount.

  7. I'm thinking about reopening positions in the miners, but the question 'Why?' keeps getting in the way.

    1. Buy something of quality that's bound to gain with the recovery, like ING, for instance. Or even BAC, BAC is gonna double in 5yrs or less, IMO.

    3. No opinion on VOYA, not much historical performance data.

  9. TXT - I have a feeling this one's gonna do pretty well, not expecting a double but certainly Cessna is going to turn their losses into profits and Bell will continue selling copters, maybe they even get a big order.

  10. CP- I like ING also. What's your bid?

    1. Well, $8.80 is failing right now, so $8.20 would be my next target. Folks are taking their recent gains and moving on, which should result in a bull flag formation, a few days or a week for the pattern to mature? Sooner or later it's headed up, a bear flag would give us a series of lower lows... Then BANG, the trend resumes.

EMA13 is $8.26 and rising, I'll probably enter somewhere under $8.50 and add $0.50 lower if it happens, else a close better than $8.80 would set my hook.

    1. T3 - Do you surf regularly?

    2. Use to boogie board and paipo board (paipo.com) alot. Paipo's are the fastest boards in the water. But now a days when I agrssively kick under the wave at the end it screws up my knee, so not so much anymore.

However I'm getting the itch and I'm checking surf, none this week. How about you? I think you said you where/are a swimmer/diver another water person eh.

    3. A nice beach is the best place to be on earth, I'd never give it up to be in Arizona.

    4. that sucks man. knee problems are no fun. have you tried doing some strengthening stuff? ironically i've found that doing light weight lifting (leg lifts and curls) helps a lot. I would also recommend grabbing a kick board and doing some light workouts in the pool.

i have been getting the itch to surf again too. i swam in college and have always been around the water. never really got into surfing here cuz the water is so damn cold (i'm a wuss) but i love being in the ocean.

      Delete
    5. The desert, yeah CP I think about that alot.

      Delete
    6. I wouldn't go to live in Az. just so I could be in the desert!

TOF, don't be stupid, man. The water isn't too cold if it's warm enough to wear shorts. I have a surfboard but always leave the board at home and body surf instead.

  16. CECO - Still chugging. Its most likely going to have one knockout pullback to get any of us that bought in the $2.2 to $2.3 area scared so I'll be looking to add more there if that happens.

    1. Entire education sector is chugging now. This is one of the few remaining sectors still beaten that piques my interest. Mainly because of the insane values but also because no one is playing this sector.

You might be getting just that opportunity in REDF. I have a small position in it because I don't have that much conviction (ie it's a true POS) but when this one gets going it could be a head spinner.

      Delete
    2. My guess is if REDF goes it will be the RENN earnings next week that are the catalyst. Makes no sense I know.

      Delete
    3. Alright, but I'm gonna try my luck with CECO if it pulls back early next week. I have a better grasp on CECO than REDF, I think.

  21. Gasoline is down, I bet that's fooling a lot of people. What's actually happening is the brent spread is narrowing and this tends to stifle foreign demand from US refineries.

    Anyway, that's my theory.

  22. I'm contemplating opening a small put position in BYD before the close.

    1. Bought 15 x BYD $14 puts at $0.49 (not sure why they filled at this price) expiring next week. Tiny position but at least it gives me something to root for on the down side.

  26. So gold prices have recovered most of the morning drop, and silver spot is flat compared to Thursdays NY close. Miners, which revisited Tuesday’s lows, have now also recovered. If I were to guess, gold/miners are now set to take off next week. Why? Any weak hands have departed. I’m not certain enough to take a position, but that’s my take.

    ReplyDelete
  27. From the latest COT report: the net long position in silver futures in the nonreportable category dropped from 2040 last week to 700, making yet another all-time low. The net long position in gold futures in the nonreportable category dropped from -1500 last week to -1700, making yet another all-time low. If we do not see a MAJOR rally in gold/silver soon, that would be REALLY weird...

    1. Incidentally, the net short position in the Producer/Merchant category has dropped to an all-time low of 38K contracts. So commercial traders, who are closest to the action, feel the least need right now to hedge their future production against the falling gold price...

  29. NOK is ready to pop big time. This event on Tuesday could be a big catalyst. We shall see. This chart is almost identical to the nat gas chart (before it rallied to the $4.4ish high).

The news today was that the new Lumia 928 would be carried exclusively at Verizon. I think the fact that no NOK phones were offered in the US for a while until just recently is a good thing for this company. But I still think there is a big catalyst out there with Nokia Siemens Network. They have an event on 5/14 (Tuesday) but for the life of me I can't figure out why they would announce this Lumia Verizon hookup today if that was what was going to be announced on Tuesday. I'm crossing my fingers they announce a new device...maybe a phone-tablet hybrid (i.e., a "phablet").

I think a lot of people are looking around to find what else might be left to run and NOK is an obvious choice.

CP - I was looking at the chart of SID last night and was wondering the same thing. I'm wondering if this is not a buying opportunity soon. Gonna wait for some sort of confirmation of a bottom.
