10/24/10 Easy Money

Easy money
I got a one-track mind
And a good reputation laying on the line
I'll either come back a bum or a king
Baby I don't know

You don't have to start a fight
I'm a man who can't say no
If you've got a little risky business
Just point me where you want to go

Take me to the power
Take me to the heat
Take me to the cleaners
If it's open to the street

Something's got to pay off
Something's got to break
Someone's got a fortune that they're begging
Me to take

The easy money mentality is back (at least IMO). Traders watching stocks like V making 'V' moves off the September lows are not seeing the usual pullbacks needed to climb aboard with decent entries. This usually leads to the trading version of chasing the dragon- the high associated with buying stocks at any price and watching them continue upward. How long this continues is impossible to predict. But current price action seems 'off-' ie, unsustainable.

I'd probably stay away from the sleeping cabins on this train.

  1. This is my final post.

Although I have enjoyed the company of you guys these past months, I feel the need to retreat further into a world of my own creation.

Also, I find that the process of writing about stock trading does little to improve my actual trading....it either aggrandizes ones ego or places undo pressure and stress on the activity.

In addition, I intend to retreat fully from any and all web-related activity other than online trading, because honestly, the world as it now is with Google and Facebook and their committment to destroying personal privacy has me anything but sanguine about continuing, on into this dark and desperate elecronic future, to relate my innermost feelings to the world in this or any other web-forum. Orwell was right...the future is here, and it sucks.

Chicken...Team....Mark...VB.......and of course most of all to our gracuious host 2nd_ave......
and to all the rest of you who do mean a lot to me know that my interactions with you have been from the heart, and that you mean a lot to me as people and always will. I always told what I thought was the truth, another trait I intend to try to suppress:)

To you my friends I wish to you happy trading and happy lives. If I ever do come here and post again it will be under a new name and a diferent historical juncture....I find this shark_attack persona has become more trouble, far more trouble than it's worth.

    So hey........All the best guys.

    NEW POST!:)

  2. I am drowned in my sorrows to hear this but I understand. Just got back from the hip surgery and know how good disengagement can feel. All the clutter is just that. My hospital/aftercare was equipped with wi-fi but I did not engage. Instead, watched TV, mostly CNBC. Probably better to be a monk for a week.

  4. Good luck in your trading, shark!

  5. Man....It's good to be home, but disappointed to read Sharkies post. GL my friend. I look forward to your re-birth. (Nemo?) :)

Lots of rain and pain this weekend. VERY tough competition. Kendra played well/had fun and that's what matters at this age.

They are now seeded #7 in the State Cup tourny out of 144 teams. That's in 2 weeks in Sacto again.

  6. RB- My nephew that plays for OSU is Chase Raskowski.

He did really well in the preseason games but hasn't played in the "real" ones yet.

  7. Sharkie - Do as you must but I'll be up front with you in saying I think that's a load of BS you've talked yourself into and invite you to return once you've come to your senses.

Meanwhile, we must continue the task of driving the malicious spirit haunting our future back into the sea.

May the adjustable mortgagees someday sleep well at night...

  10. So far tonight it seems like the market's reaction to the G20 meeting is the same as always -- positive. Why did I disregard this statistical fact when I hedged myself on Friday with TWM and FCX short?

  12. Mark,
Thanks, I will be following Chase. I have a feeling his playing time is going to increase dramatically looking at their losing streak. Cream always rises to the top.

For what it’s worth – I’ve been reading your post with great interest for 3(?) years now. Best of luck to you going forward.

  14. RB- Yeah, he sent me a private note referring to a conversation with the coach recently.

When playing time and scholarships mix things can get dicey.

    BTW- Your

son must be a real player, and your take on the whole "thing" is the same as mine. GL.

Market take...Being long, I really don't like the action tonight. Feels' forced, or predictable...Of course I'm still not quite dried out after this weekend...Rain wise guys!!!!

  15. Shark, What the fuck.I understand the Tabula Rasa bullshit, but at least you can come on here and talk about Michelle Caruso-Cabrera's rack. Right?
    Good luck my brother,

  16. port- I'll be meeting with MOG on Tues. But things are a little dicey. His father past away this week. I suspect we might see a "collapse" in NG prices to bring an end to this. Thanks for the "real world" take on this!

  17. sad news about shark and I'm sorry you guys are loosing a bud.

Now I'm not even in the mood to chat about stocks which is rare.

Early estimates for natty storage report +73 with a bias to the upside.
    good luck to all

  18. port...We could talk about the NFL this weekend and my 3-12 picks??? HTFC!!!! THE GIANTS WON!!!

BTW....Howard is a puss. No way a clean up hitter that has ANY balls lets the umpire decide a game 6 in the NLCS in the bottom of the 9th with 2 on and 2 out with a full count....

    WEAK!!!!!!!!

  19. thx mark,
i think there is a good chance we pass up last years storage number, espeically if you believe these early estimates but you would think that's priced in already. Maybe not.

I'm going to plow thru Tudor Pickering's commentary to come up with my buy list. The only thing I can remember at the moment is that HAL is their favorite driller as far as upside stock price potential.

  20. Ha, I gave up watching football many many years ago for health reasons. I'm an aggie and of course this used to be Oiler country. I think both teams used the same playbook. I'm getting hives just remembering how many leads we've blown.
    good nite

  21. Mark,
I hope your feeling is right and this is forced. I just saw the futures and cannot believe the dollar. I went in the weekend with a short dollar position by shorting crude and gold. In anticipation of a dollar smack up at the G20. Looks like they are going to run my stops in the morning. I really believe this dollar devaluation is running on fumes and commodities are ripe for a correction, but I will wait for confirmation what ever that is. Regression to the mean anyone?
