3/18/11 C Jam Blues/ Key Change to Large-Cap Value

Nothing like a driving bass line to smooth over the rough edges of a difficult trading week.

tof- Recall Hulbert's column re large-cap value assuming leadership in the later stages of a rally:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/large-cap-value-sector-a-good-bet-2011-03-01

While it was entirely normal for those small-cap and growth sectors to have led the market higher during the earlier phases of this bull market, it is increasingly surprising that they continue to do so. The typical pattern during prior bull markets is for the shift toward the large-cap and value ends of the spectrum to have occurred well before the two-year mark.

Thus my bias towards underperforming DJIA components right now.

  2. F - I must say, I sure would be surprised to see F move down from here.

  3. F- Yeah, it sure has a nice pattern forming. Obviously I hesitate because I still feel we see some more downside for the market overall.

Don't like being out of step with 2nd though.

  4. Some very large ownership transfers took place in UXG/USU/GMO after hours all at about the same time, 16:35

  5. I don't know what 2nd means when he says large cap hasn't participated, seems to me they were kicking butt until the middle east rioting began.

  8. Mark, it's a beagle, not a crack lab! BTW, crack kills and peddlin' ass is illegal ya' know!

RES - What's gonna happen when those shorts cover at this price?

  9. RES yes I love that two month lng cup. Anyone see a pattern like that please let me know those have been working like a dream. If not you have a tight stop and you are only out a couple bucks. Thanks. That is a no brainer. Watching KEG closely too. With a much tighter cup in the same space run by oilrig meth heads. Frankly I am a happy dude spending the weekend in cash. Hell I'm just a happy dude. What do I have to be sad about? I guess the cost of sending a beagle to rehab could put a frown on my face.:(

  20. Mark, Although the temptation may be overwhelming, I recommend restraint when it comes to overzealous application of toilet water. A little goes a long, long way! ;)

  21. So dunking my head is out? Man,what would I do without you guys...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Alright, assuming you must dunk (or perhaps even thoroughly douse) then why not go all the way?

There are numerous options here, some level of experimentation leading to careful selection of chemistry's is of paramount importance because for many a connoisseur, the mystical properties of pheromones can be shattering or advantageous.

Therefore, depending on your chemistry and personal preferences of both you and your spouse, you might consider completing the ensemble with a rare blend of Tsunami Samurai toilet water, composed from a Sake wine base derived from a complex carrying a light bouquet of thoughtfully harvested wild mountain berries.

    Just an idea!

  23. The important conceptual approach in the selection process is largely empirical in nature, and involves a methodical approach. So don't be afraid to aggregate from a myriad of selections, it demands great patience to tap into a higher degree of intuitive ability in the practitioner.

    Therefore the term "Tsunami Samurai".

This is where indepth research pays highest dividend.

  24. Wow, I'm just now getting a chance to view some of the video from Japan as the Tsunami was sweeping inland, the magnitude and speed of destruction is unsettling.

It's been years, so of course I don't recognize any landmarks from these film clips, but I do recall visiting some of these towns mentioned. This region is known as Tohoku:
