12/1/10 After The Goldrush

http://tinyurl.com/ddrd9z

I was lying in a burned out basement
with the full moon in my eyes
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky
There was a band playing in my head
and I felt like getting high
I was thinking about what a
friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie

A downer on a down day always works for me. Getting turned down (by the market) enhances the effect of a stark solo- the flip side of celebrating with a driving bass.

  1. I'm having a hard time even thinking about stopping out of my longs right now, above and beyond the fact that I've taken positions for longer than a day.

    It just 'doesn't compute.'

  2. I suspect a lot of people are in your boat 2nd. The question becomes: at what point would people buying the dip at around 1,170-80 feel the pressure of losses is too much? Alternatively, should the market not break through 1,170ish then what else is left to take it down? Would it be a Spanish blowup?

  3. "what else is left to take it down?"

How about Beijing tightening based upon tonight's 9pm PMI announcement?

  5. tof- That is indeed the question, as that is exactly where the market needs to head. Once the majority of longs have capitulated, it's free to continue the rally.

  6. Fine, rat out the US government, but mess around with BAC and you've got a world of hurt headed your way pal...

" AP- Interpol has issued an arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on sex charges.
The Australian is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion in an investigation that stems from his encounters with two women during a visit to Sweden in August."

You just can't make this shit up man.

dave- That is exactly the kind of pattern bulls need to 'see.' Once the market finds the point at which the majority of longs capitulate, we are then free to continue the rally. JMO, of course.

Being an agnostic, I could of course also say 'That is exactly the kind of pattern I need to see.'

  8. All they need is to put Assange's name on John Walsh's Top Ten List, and it's over.

This is a great stream of about 30 Neil Young songs...makes for a relaxing evening.

  10. Yeah, if he had the goods on GS he'd already be dead.

  11. It seems Julian Assange has a grudge against America and he's a sexual predator to boot...

Just think of how much the US government could save just by cutting our military budget in half.

Bring all non-essentials home and give them the repo'd homes.

  12. CP- Now your on to something. Set up the non-essentials with BAC homes on their inventory with BAC loans....Genius CP, genius!

  13. jeez...if there are more volatile things in the world than the Chinese markets, I'd like to know what they are. maybe the married men here can chime in...

  14. BAC - Kinda looks like a buy here but if it fails tomorrow $10 might come pretty fast...

  15. Crude turned around pretty quick tonight. I almost reloaded AH but chickened out. Hope I didn't play it too cute.

  16. TOF- My wife's as mean as a snake, but for volatility I'd go with a tired 3 year old boy. Damn....

  17. wiki leaks - just another reason to buy more gold.

my gut tells me this involves a bigger network that understands the holes in international law. hang on to your hats

  18. I don't know guys, I'm leaning toward the long side here tonight.

IRE - Crazy as it sounds, this one even looks like a potential buy here just off the bottom...

  19. I can't believe I might have to actually cover "pants suit" back on this one.

  20. Would that be plaid by any chance? Put some astroturf in your pickup bed and you'll be the man!

  21. CP- Doesn't matter bro. She needs someone to cover her behind and I might be the only one big enough to do it ;)

  22. While your busy with that, think about including some level of romance:

  23. CP - I kinda agree. I don't have a great take on things right now but my gut tells me I should have been flat instead of 40% short, 8% long (rest cash) at close

    ReplyDelete
  24. No way man. I'm here to "protect and serve". Not "service".

  25. Ah come on, we know the truth and we know what covering means!

Here are a few more helpful pointers: ;)

    "Live cover

When breeding live cover, the mare is usually boarded at the stud. She is "teased" several times with a stallion that will not breed to her, usually with the stallion being presented to the mare over a barrier. Her reaction to the teaser, whether hostile or passive, is noted. A mare that is in heat will generally tolerate a teaser (although this is not always the case), and may present herself to him, holding her tail to the side. A veterinarian may also determine if the mare is ready to be bred, by ultrasound or palpating daily to determine if ovulation has occurred.

When it has been determined that the mare is ready, both the mare and intended stud will be cleaned. The mare will then be presented to the stallion, usually with one handler controlling the mare and one or more handlers in charge of the stallion. Multiple handlers are preferred, as the mare and stallion can be easily separated should there be any trouble."

  27. Well, considering the proposed federal pay freeze now it appears all TSA agents may have added incentive for searching your trousers.

Make sure to count your pocket change prior to entering the screening lineup!

  28. CP- Yesterday I was carded for an beer purchase at CVS. I said, "Are you kidding me, I'm 47 years old?" She must have been an ex-TSA agent. Good lord.

    Tanaka- Where are you?

  29. Tanaka?

Speaking of which, Happy Channukah everybody!

  31. The futures are up big right now. In order to reduce the chance of CRM jumping over my buy to cover stop limit order, I decided to widen its spread to $142/$143.
