In 1984 I spent the summer traveling in Asia, which included a week in Hong
Kong. After watching a televised news story about the residents of the Walled City, I asked
someone to give me a tour of what amounted to a large square city block in the
midst of Kowloon over which neither the Chinese nor the British claimed
jurisdiction. We descended into a maze of dark/damp alleyways which dipped and
climbed past small shops and living spaces. An intricate network of overhead
conduits/naked wires presumably supplied the power for lighting, whereas water
was fed through an improvised network of dripping pipes. An extraordinary
experience.
What if there was a very substantial euro depreciation for 2015?
